Objectives and tasks
What are the objectives of the Green Office? What is our role?
Universities have a special responsibility and at the same time offer huge opportunities for ensuring a future worth living on this planet. As enterprises in the public service, they have significant leverage for conserving resources. As educational institutions, they teach essential skills for generations to come, which today more than ever include networked thinking, foresight and collaboration. With research and knowledge transfer, universities generate new solutions for the necessary social transformation, increasingly in collaboration with different disciplines or external partners and taking environmental, economic and social perspectives into account.
As the Green Office, our role is to launch, arrange and monitor initiatives that breathe life into these lines of action. We are therefore the first point of contact for all matters relating to sustainability and bring together the various stakeholders at FAU. In particular, we aim to place a greater emphasis on student initiatives for more sustainability at the University. This involves structuring, publicizing and raising awareness for initiatives and encouraging the University community to get involved.
We monitor the implementation of the projects ourselves wherever possible, play an active role or encourage the setting up of working groups.
In the medium term, our goal is to implement an established structure for dialog on sustainability issues with representatives of all status groups (faculties, students, administration and the Executive Board) at FAU, where decisions can be taken and priorities for projects set. We must pool our expertise to be able to draw up a sustainability report at FAU, which will in turn form the basis for planning our future strategy.
We are also involved in drawing up applications and funding concepts in order to gain the human resources and infrastructure we need to continue improving sustainability at FAU.
