forum1.5 is a platform for all those in the region who want to promote local sustainability.
It follows the intention of the The Paris Climate Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. forum1.5 aims to help initiate the far-reaching change processes necessary for decelerating climate changeand taking action to protect the climate. However, its goal stretches far beyond reducing greenhouse gases. It also includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations for socially just and solidarity-based transformation, which are also set out in the 2030 Agenda for Regions and Municipalities.
What is special about forum1.5?
forum1.5 is a transdisciplinary cooperation of interested partiesfrom local authorities, business,society, and particularly from science, who connect on the independent platform forum 1.5 to form a regional network. One particular feature of forum 1.5is that researchers work together to solve regional problems and the platform promotes dialog between stakeholders in different practical fields and pioneers of the future. The platform is able to make an effective contribution to transformation through this intensive collaboration.
How will regional transformation be achieved?
Several regional fora 1.5 are currently being established. forum 1.5 Mittelfrankenis the collaboration platform for this region. It brings together stakeholders from local authorities,business, scienceand societyand invites them to work together on matters of regional significance. The platform contributes to regional responsibility for climate protection and sustainability goals, to consciously shape the transformation processes at locations in the region and to inspire other regions to follow their lead. As a key partner, FAU is involved in the development of forum 1.5 Mittelfranken.
What is currently planned?
forum 1.5 focuses on the semiannual events thattake place in spring and fall eachyear. Experiences are exchanged around a key topic, knowledge is passed on, new ideas and strategies are developed together and concrete projects are initiated, thus effectively shaping the path to a sustainable future in the Middle Franconia region. This year’s Fall Forum will take place from October 20-30, 2022 as an online and face-to-face event with the focus on “On the table: Impulse days for sustainable nutrition”. Events on the topic of biodiversity are planned for the Spring Forum 2023.
